This is Life..

My passion derives from the elegance and beauty Of Montana. I want to embrace being able to capture it. I feel like natures expressions can be shared through photographs to express our worlds beauty. My brother is a hard blooded Montanan and knows parts of Montana I have never been to so I asked him for some pictures, he said "yeah I'll send you some off of my cell phone but I had way cooler pictures off the last f*#$?* 20 phones I broke." He insisted that I absolutely have to include the last picture of him. This is cell phone photography but it shows that we can capture some awesome pictures just from a phone. Since it's bow hunting season I talked him into taking me with him so I can shoot the camera. I'm excited to have the opportunity to explore parts of Montana that I haven't been to. Pictures to come in future posts....

Inspiration

In search of a little inspiration I found some amazing landscape pictures. I posted the websites where I found them but wanted to post the ones that I really like. For me these photos stand out and capture my attention.  The first picture is taken in Glacier, MT. In my opinion Glacier is one of the most beautiful places in Montana. The second picture I like the silk blurring effect of the water and the contrast of colors. The third picture is simply amazing... I would LOVE to take a picture like that!glacier-national-park

Striving for Perfection

This past weekend I went through the Beartooth Pass. When I stopped to take the first picture I realized I didn't have a memory card! Luckily the store On Top of The World sells them... After I got the memory card I used the AV and TV mode on the camera to manually adjust the settings.  I tried different settings while shooting the mountains but didn't quite get the what I wanted. Next time I would like to try using different filters. (I need to get some)

Vail, Colorado

Since the last post I upgraded from using my camera phone to a Canon Rebel T3. This is the first time I have ever had a blog and focused on taking pictures. Throughout the semester (until December) I hope to dramatically improve upon my skills for my Nature Photography class at Rocky Mountain College. I realize that I have a lot to learn about photography and I hope to improve to be able to capture the beauty that I see. I love to travel, take road trips and will now have a reason to take more road trips in order to capture amazing landscape and wildlife shots.

This past weekend I flew into Denver and drove to Vail, CO. I played with a few different settings and editing to try to figure out the camera and improve the images. This picture is taken along the side of the road on the way to Vail.
